Reading Partners!

This past week, we added reading partners to our reading workshop fun! During our reading workshop, we do a short mini lesson, read independently, and now we meet with reading buddies! Reading partners are so much fun! We practiced lots of different ways to read with a buddy! We practiced to choral reading, echo reading, and taking turns reading! Reading partners share notices about books, help each other out with tricky words, and discuss the books that they read! Here are some pictures of my friends reading with their buddies!

Mr. Moose And His Cowboy Boots!

So I know that I have told everyone about my sweet friend Caleb (aka. Moose). He is the coolest kid! You can almost count on him to wear his cowboy boots every day except Friday...only because we have PE and they need tennis shoes :) When Caleb found out that I too owned a pair of cowboy boots, he begged me to wear them to school so we could be twins! Well...it is not humanly possible to deny this sweet little boy anything! :) So, last week, I kept my promise to Mr. Moose and wore my cowboy boots! :) I told him that I would post it on our blog for the world to see, and he was sooooooo excited! :) So, here we are with our matching cowboy boots...twins for the day! :)

Me and Caleb!
Thanks for making me smile everyday sweet friend!

Edible Maps!

This week in Social Studies, we have been learning all about Maps! We learned about different kinds of maps, how to read a map, and how to create/understand a map key! After we filled our brains with all this new information, it was time to get creative and make our very own maps...oh and did I mention that these were maps that we could EAT! :) They had so much fun!
We started off by creating a map key to help our map readers know what everything was!
*Pretzels = roads
*Chocolate chips = mountains
* Green mini M&M's = trees
*Red mini M&M's = the cafe
*Orange mini M&M's = the store
*Yellow mini M&M's = cabins
*Blue sprinkles = lakes
Let me just tell you how much fun this was! Well...I will let you judge for yourself by the pictures below :)
The green group getting started! I see a few mountains and roads already in place!

The yellow group working hard!

Here is the red group! I think Miss Kate took a little taste to make sure everything good! :)

Lots of mountains in the teal group!

The blue group in deep thought planning out their maps!

The pink group having so much fun!

Now...here are some action shots and finished products! :)

Anna's amazing map!

Victoria is not quite finished, but she is off to a great start! She already has a lake, some roads, and some cafes!

Sam in deep thought! "Hmmm...what should I add next?"
Lookin good Mr. Sam

Cannon was so excited about his map, he could hardly wait to eat it!

Eli has a great map!

MyLeah made her road into a bridge that crossed over the lake!

Mr. Kristos decided that his map needed a little bit of everything! :)

Yum! Kate and Devon are starting to really enjoy their maps!

Yum!! Brooks loved his map!

Katie told me this was the best SS lesson we have ever done!

Cooper's Map!

The teal group LOVED their maps! Steven especially :)

Mr. Caleb enjoying his map one road at a time :)

Kinsley's map minus the roads!
She was so cute! She asked if she could make a map without roads (aka pretzels) because she didn't really like roads! :) Her finished product turned out PERFECT!

And last but not least...I leave you with this picture of pure sweetness!
Mr. Peyton enjoyed every bite of his map!

I would also like to thank Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Haubert, and Mrs. Moody for coming in to help with our maps! You guys are awesome!!!!
