Gingerbread Friends!

Today was Gingerbread day! We did so many fun things today! We worked on a special Christmas gift for our parents, learned how to find the main idea of a story, and we measured gingerbread cookies and made a graph with our gingerbread cookies! We also found our elf, Alvin stuck on our classroom flag. Apparently, he was parachuting in from the North Pole, and his parachute got stuck on the flag. Oops...so much for a smooth landing! :)

Now...it's gingerbread cookie time! Oh my goodness...I cannot even tell you how excited they were to get a gingerbread cookie. :) We enjoyed our these cookies more than you will ever know. First, we measured the different parts of his body: his head, arms, legs, arm span, and height. Then, we each took one bite of our cookie, and finally we graphed the part that most people bit off. In our class, most people took a bite out of his head. :) We all decided that the reason behind this was because his head was the biggest part, so they wanted to get the biggest bite they could! :) For some reason, they really thought I was only going to let them have 1 bite, so almost all of them took the biggest bite EVER! :) So funny!

I will leave you with our sneaky elf! This is where we found him today...I think he might need to take some sky diving lessons and learn how to land with a parachute! :)

We have had so much fun this week! I cannot wait for tomorrow! It's Grinch Day, and we have so many fun things planned!

Reindeer Day!

Tuesday was reindeer day! We had so much fun! We learned all kinds of new facts about reindeer that live all over the world! Some of the things we learned were that reindeer have special fur that helps them swim, reindeer live all over the world, their hooves change with the seasons, and they are the only members of the deer family that have females with antlers! We also made our very own antlers AND...the best part of the day...we made reindeer food to put out on Christmas Eve. The reindeer food will guide Santa and the reindeer to your house if you sprinkle it in the yard on Christmas Eve. :) This was such a fun day for me and my little friends!

Tis the season! Happy Snowman Day!

Twas the week before Christmas break and all through room 108, lots of excitement
and waiting to sleep in late! :)
WOW! is all I can say! I cannot believe it is that time of year again! It feels like just yesterday my sweet little friends were walking into Room 108 for the very first time. The week before Christmas is always one of my favorite times of the school year. We get to do so many crafts and have so, so much fun in the classroom singing, being crafty, and just having a fantastic time! The first day of Christmas week, we celebrated the joy of snowmen! We had so much fun! We made fact family Christmas trees, snowmen out of marshmallows, and wrote some GREAT stories about what snowmen do at night! My favorite part of the day however, is singing Christmas songs! My little bitties LOVE to belt out a tune! It has been so much fun! Here are some pictures from our day!

We also had a very special guest come to our class on Monday. Mr. Travis, Cannon's dad surprised our class and came to read to us! The kids thought he was the coolest, most awesome dad around! He did such a great job reading to our little friends, and we can't wait for him to come back for another visit!
