Shhhhh! We are having fun with DIGRAPHS!!

This week, we have been learning ALL about digraphs! (sh, ch, wh, and th) We have been practicing these sounds all week! We even found a song by Ne-Yo to help us learn about this "transformer H." On Friday, we worked together as groups to write down as many words as we knew that had this famous transformer H in them. Each group had 5 minutes to write down as many words as they could. The race was VERY close, but the pink group took home with trophy with 20 words! Everyone did SUCH a good job!

Books Are So Much Fun!

We had sooooo much fun during Children's Book Week! We had oreos on Tuesday ("The Good Stuff is in the Middle"). Wednesday was REALLY fun because we got to "Snuggle Up With a Good Book" and wear our PJ's! Thursday was "Sweat it Out With a Good Book," and everyone wore their favorite team's sweatshirt. BUT...Friday was the BEST, because we got to dress like our favorite book character! Here are a few pictures of our week of fun!

Alvin has a little crush!

So, you all have heard of our sneaky little elf from the North Pole, Alvin! Well today, he brought is camera to school, and he posted a few pictures! My itty bitties and I think he has a little crush on our principal, Mrs. Padgett. Take a look and see what you think! :)
We found Alvin stuck in my filing cabinet handle this morning. He had taken a few pictures with his fancy camera and posted them on the filing cabinet!

Up close and personal!

He decided to share his self portrait with us!

And...here is the picture with his crush! What do you think?? A crush?? I think so! Look out Mr. Pete...Alvin has his eye on Mrs. Padgett!

What is furry, mean, and GREEN all over?? ...THE GRINCH THAT'S WHO!

Happy Grinch Day Friends!
Today we did everything GREEN, and let me tell you...we had so much fun! We wrote about things that make us feel "Grinchy", played some Grinch math games, had our FAVORITE reader and class helper visit again, and we also made Grinch punch and Grinch dust! What a GREAT day!
Here are a few pictures from our day!
We had so much fun writing about things that make us feel Grinchy. Some of my favorites were:
"I feel Grinchy when I have to go to bed at 9:30. It is way too late!"
"I feel Grinchy when my sister makes me play her games!"
"I feel Grinchy when my mom doesn't make my favorite breakfast."
These are only a few of my faves!
Here we are making our Grinch to go along with our writing prompt!

We also had our favorite dad come in and help us make our Grinchy hats! Miss Lewis' class LOVES Mr. Travis. You should have seen the excitement on their sweet little faces when I told them he was coming back to visit! :)

Our finished Grinchy Projects! Look at those Grinchy faces :)

Mr. Travis was such a trooper today! We put him to work! He also helped our class make "Grinch Dust" (sugar, green food coloring, and a few green sprinkles to seal the deal) and "Grinch Punch"
Making Grinch Dust

Everyone got a chance to stir!

What would Grinch dust be without a little green sprinkle action?

The final product!

Don't forget to sprinkle it in your yard on Christmas Eve!

Next up...Grinch punch!
(I told you we put Mr. Travis to work today)

I think Devon likes it...what do you think?

The yellow group

Anna and Kaylie Grace LOVED it!

I think the pink group liked it too!

Uh-oh Nate...you're starting to turn green!!

Before Mr. Travis left, he had time to squeeze in a couple of books! He had his special reading helper read along with him! So much fun!!!!

Look at those excellent listeners!

Finally, we played a Grinchy game called "Sum it Up"
In this game, you have to roll the dice, write an equation, and sum it up! The partner who fills up 3 sum columns first wins the game! this was a MAJOR hit!
