This week in writing we read a story called, Max's Words. In this story, Max was feeling a little down because both of his brothers were collectors, and he was not. He decided to start a collection of words one day, and he discovered so many new things. He learned that he could collect words that he knew, words that gave him a fuzzing feeling inside, color words, etc. The one day, he decided to use his collection of new words to create a story. We decided that we wanted to be just like Max, because he created an amazing story with his new words. Each child was asked to start a word collection at home. They could find words in magazines, newspapers, menus, or anywhere else they could find words! Then, we used our new words to create stories in our journals. They are not quite finished yet, so I am going to share with you our unfinished products! :) We have some really great stories coming to life in Room 108! I cannot wait until they are finished!
Cannon has a great story started about football players marching onto the football field.
Cooper is writing away as he creates a story about a sports event he and his dad attended.
Kinsley has a wonderful story started about a day with her mom and brother.
The yellso group has lots of new words to use in their stories!
Miss Kaylie Grace has a great "word bank" to help her story come to life!
Man! Emily has a really great story started! I can't wait to read it!
We really enjoyed using new words in our writing! The stories are so exciting, and the kids could not wait to share during our share time...even though their stories were not finished. My little "firsties" are so smart and creative! I know I have said it before, but I am one lucky teacher!!!!!
